SMF has focused its attention on large complex security projects. This high-end
segment positioning has enabled SMF to leverage its technological advantages
to utilize fully its professional sales and engineering staff. Project responsibilities
typically require the integration of access control, intrusion detection,
biometric validation, video imaging, Closed Circuit TV (CCTV), and real-time
interfacing to related building automation systems, such as elevator controls,
and energy management. The diverse and complex nature of this level on integration
requires no less effort from the part of SMF's team.
The Leading Edge of Security Technology
SMF has recently developed a new generation of software and data capture
controllers, forming the basis of all SMF's security systems. Utilizing
Microsoft's Windows NT operating system platform, the ACS61 security system
server performs all the system management, database handling and alarm reporting
from the various field sensors and input devices. A new range of ACS intelligent
controllers, the primary data gathering devices, are connected to the security
server. To these are further attached external readers, such as proximity
cards, magnetic stripe cards or alarm sensor devices. Further software drivers
allow the input of CCTV, digital or video imaging systems, and building
automation interfaces.
Multi-size capability is supported through communications channels on both
the server, workstations and optional remote dial-up capability of the ACS
controllers. Systems can utilize fiber optics, copper lines, dial-up or
other paths, capable of supporting standard serial communications. Secure
data can be sent via encryption devices using military standard key codes
for safe data transmission.
